It was brought to my attention that some people might want to see some of the concept art I’ve worked with while writing the Iron Cradle series. I’ll post some of the concept art here. It’s a mix between artist renders and some AI stuff. None of this is art I plan on selling or including directly in the books however it is a fun way to get a glimpse at some of the pictures I’m looking at when I’m putting the different scenes of the story together. Again how you like to see the characters is up to your own interpretation. And I was never fully happy with a lot of these renders. It’s not exactly how I see them. But some of them are pretty close, like Kyle for example. But a lot of the artists and the AI renders weren’t ever really quite able to get the Kobalds armor, right. I always felt like they were just scaling regular human figures down.. So like I said, with a grain of salt.
These are images that I have used to glance at from both book one and book two. I’m not going to label them all. If you’ve been reading, it should be pretty easy to figure out who’s who. I’ve also added some of the bad guys and some of the different monsters they’ve been fighting. Along with the best out of like 10 really awful renderings of Bishop.
I’ve also included the layout of the Roslyn Research Facility. Which other facilities on Earth end up getting mapped out to resemble which has been very helpful. I’ve also included a couple of the cinematic shots.
Like I said a lot of the AI images that are mixed in this aren’t used in the book. This is just me describing the scenes when I feel like I’m stuck. Or need some inspiration. It’s been very helpful in trying to create the more cinematic scenes. I think out of all of the artwork, the artist’s renderings are my favorite. They look a little bit more cartoonish to me. They also actually look like Kobalds. 🙂
